Here comes the heat!

Well, after days of rain, we are now going into a period of sun. Yeaa!!  But with it comes heat & humidity. Yuk! Tomorrow is supposed to feel like 100-110 with the humidity even though the temp is only going to be around 98.  Maybe it will bake some of these pesky mosquitos that all our water has created. lol

Today's card is another birthday card for work. It's another cutie from Prairie Fairy.

The paper is from my stash, but is probably K & Co as I seem to have tons of that brand. I added a couple of small flowers I made to perk it up a bit. I hope Angie likes it when she gets it!

Two more days until a long weekend!  I'm counting the minutes & plan to do a lot of stamping these 3 days!
I hope you are all having a great week! Catch you all later.

A quick get well..

I had planned to work on another card tonite, but after talking to one of my friends last nite I learned that she had fallen & broken her ankle.  I wanted to get a get well card in the mail to her right away & since my time was really limited tonite, I decided to do a quick version. It was also a chance to use some of my new toys.
The lattice cutout behind my sentiment is a new Spellbinder die that my daughter gave me Saturday. The sentiment is an old Stampin Up stamp and the branch is from a new die made by Marianne Design that I got on CuddlyBuddly's website. I ran my card through one of my embossing folders for background.

We had a really fierce storm Sunday night. My power was out several times & we got more heavy rain. This was the sight that greeted me when I backed out of my garage yesterday morning. The neighbor across the street lost a great portion of the tree in his front yard. There were trees down all over town even larger than this one.  We just can't seem to get out of this storm cycle.  Tomorrow they are saying we will have sun for a change, but temps near 100 with high humidity.  Even that is better than storms!

I hope you all have a great day tomorrow!  And a dry one!

Catch you all later.

Dog-gone happy!

Well, it is officially the end of my week's vacation.  Yuk! As usually happens, I didn't get anything done that I had planned to do, but did manage to get some other things done instead.  Unfortunately, I didn't have a lot of time to work on cards so this is one I need for work tomorrow.  Cutting it close, huh! lol

This is another Mo Manning image.  I thought he would be perfect for a guy birthday card. The paper if from a G.C.D. Studios paper pad my daughter gave me.  She is always on the look-out for things to aid in my addiction!  Such an enabler, she is!! I colored him with pencils & gamsol. The sentiment was computer generated and punched out with a Spellbinder label die.

I had planned to make cards all nite tonite, but it looks like we are in for another nite of storms again. It's getting black as nite  & I can hear the thunder rumbling.  I am SO sick of storms! And we sure don't need even a single drop more rain in this area!

Everyone have a great week.  Catch you all later!

A quick post

I should know better than to try to post when I am tired.  It never ends well.  But I'm going to have a go at it anyway.  Here is a quick sympathy card I made tonite when I returned from taking my grandson home. One of his Godmother's lost her mom this morning. Since I had taken all the sympathy cards I had on hand down to my daughter, I needed to make one for me to send.

It is a long drive to Lincoln & back in one day but I managed the drive & even had a little time to stop at my favorite stamp store before we ate lunch. I got a new embossing folder & a new ferm die from Cheery Lynn Designs so I decided to give them a try on this card. My daughter had a goodie bag for me with some new stamps I am dying to try as well as some other wonderful things. So all in all, I added some great new toys to my goodie stash today.

Off to bed as I have to be up early tomorrow. Hopefully, I will find some time tomorrow to try out my new stamps!

A little thanks..

Can you believe it is already Thursday?  The week has just flown by way too quickly! With all the things we had to take care of we haven't had a lot of time for fun things yet.  And add to that the fact that it has rained every single day with the exception of this afternoon when that strange yellow thing I believe they still call the sun actually came out, it has not been the most fun week at Grandma's house.  That has to be a record for some kind of run together sentence that would horrify an English teacher!  ha ha

Today's card is a quick thank you card I did for my daughter's stash.  This little guy is from Cuddly Buddly.I colored him with copics & the paper is from K & Co. The border punch is from Martha Stewart.

Tomorrow we are going to go to another movie & stuff ourselves on popcorn again.  We hit the late movie last nite & managed to eat an enormous bucket halfway down even after having just eaten dinner. I firmly believe they put something in the butter that has some kind of effect on your brain & makes you HAVE to have popcorn if you walk in the lobby! That's my theory & I'm sticking to it!

Have a wonderful Friday & I will catch you all later!

Another Hedgie!

Can we all pretend that I didn't already post this same stamp earlier?  I don't like to do this, but since I needed 2 graduation cards for girls, I used the same Penny Black stamp on both of them.  Normally, I wouldn't post both, but since we have been so busy I haven't had a chance to do another card so.....

I took one view of the side so you can also see the flower border inside & hopefully you can see how cute the dimension flowers turned out. I used that same wonderful Martha border punch to create the flowers. They are the perfect size for accenting.  As you can see, this card is a bit more "girly" than the previous version.  I colored her with pencils & gamsol. The paper is K & Co. and the flower corners on the pink paper are another Martha stamp.

We had another round of strong storms last nite.  They blew the sirens again, but unfortunately, we didn't hear them at my house.  Which is rather disturbing as they have always been quite clear before. There were some areas north of us that got 7 & 8 inches of rain so that is just adding to the misery of our flooding. And storms are forecast for tonite & tomorrow as well. I am so tired of gray skies & rain !!  I joked about Mother Nature having PMS & got the funniest reply from one of my favorite gals who told me that PMS stands for Purchase More Stamps!  I LOVE that!  And we all know how a new stamp will cheer you up!

Have a great day! Catch you later. Hopefully, with a whole new stamp!

Happy Monday!

Well, I hope you all survived the storms we had last nite.  I have never seen so much lightning & for such a long duration.  It didn't stop the entire nite. I can attest to this since I was awake all nite!  You know how much I just LOVE storms!  NOT!!!  And even if I could have slept thru them, the heat in my bedroom would have kept me awake anyway.  Yup, the air conditioner is on the fritz! So my first day of vacation is going to be spent waiting for the repairman to come & hopefully tell me he can fix (and not have to replace) my over 30 yr. old air conditioner.

My grandson is here this week, but luckily, he is able to stay cool as there is a small window air conditioner upstairs where he is sleeping. See how much I love him! I gave HIM the cool bedroom!

We have been busy today already.  I decided to replace my camera & get one more geared toward pictures of cards than my old one.  Josh is helping me by giving me a blow by blow account of how it works & what I have to do.  I have one smart grandchild! And he isn't even reading the manual.

This is my first attempt at picture taking with my new camera.  The colors turned out beautifully.  Now I just have to figure out how to edit, tweak & size things before I post.  Most all of that can be done in the camera, I just have to learn how.  The stamp is from Penny Black & it is colored in pencils & gamsol. I used my favorite papers from K & Co & added a bow from my ribbon stash.

We are in for another round of severe storms tonite again. I hope all of you are staying safe & most of all, staying dry!

Stay tuned for my next attempt at learning something new, and have a great week!

Catch you all later!

Just swinging by to say.....

Hi everyone,

To try to lighten up the gloomy skies around here, today's card is a fun one! This image is from Prairie Fairy digi's & one of their newest releases. I couldn't resist her. Although we never had a tire swing growing up, I have fond memories of swinging at all the playgrounds in our neighborhood.  She is colored with copics & pencils & the paper is from K & Co.  I used my Spellbinders for the cutout and added some flowers I made from one of Martha's punches. The punch itself is one long string of flowers in 3 sizes & the minute I saw it I knew I could get double use from it.  Not only is it a perfect border, but by cutting the flowers apart & layering them you get adorable dimensional flowers too! (I have to rationalize how much money I spend on punches. lol)  I'm going to enter her in Stamp Something - something punched challenge.

The dam above us just released the maximum flow of water so far today & it should reach us by tomorrow. At this point, it is just a wait & see game for everyone.  Luckily the rain today was not heavy & it isn't supposed to storm all nite tonite. Got to love Mother Nature when she is having PMS!

Have a good Wednesday.  Catch you all later!

I'm starting to repeat myself!

I know as you age, you begin to repeat things.  (Or so they tell me) They say as you age, you begin to repeat things.....

Yes, I know, I posted a card a while back made with this same Mo Manning image & here it is again. Well, there are 2 reasons for that. One, I loved the stamp so much I just had to make another thank you card with it & two, I didn't have anything else colored up tonite & am too tired to whip something out. So, forgive me for repeating the same stamp, but I had to try her out on some cute round scalloped cards I got at Michael's in their dollar bin on Sunday.  I traced around the card & cut out some K & Co paper to cover it. I thought it would be a cute thank you for my daughter's little stash.  I liked it so well on the round card, I was tempted to make another for me!  She is colored in pencils & gamsol except for her hair which is done in Prismacolor markers.

We had thunder storms here this morning & it is clouding up for a repeat performance tonite.  Just what Arizona really needs & Iowa can do without!  Too bad we can't design a giant funnel & send all our water to the fire areas there.

Have a great day tomorrow & stay dry!

Thank You Fairy Much!

It's time for a little silliness to liven up the day.  I thought this darling little housework fairy was just perfect for the job.  She is another Mo Manning digi. (I think I am addicted) I made her for my daughter & hope she will get a chuckle out of her. She is colored in pencils & gamsol & the paper is from an old pad of Deja Views from my paper stash. I hope everyone is REALLY proud of me today!  I left Michaels without a single paper pad! I think I caught some wild virus at Gails yesterday.  That can be the only explanation! She just announced she prefers watermelon to chocolate & I didn't buy any paper today! Neither of those things would ever happen if we were our normal selves!

I sure wish I had a housework fairy to do all my work! Think how much more time I would have to make cards!  I am entering her in the Creative Card Crew-show us wings challenge.

The rain has stopped for now, but is supposed to return later today. In the meantime we all continue to pray for dry days & all this flooding to be a bad memory.  Have a great week & stay happy!

Happy Father's Day!

Can you believe it!  I'm not posting a birthday card this time!  I thought I had better get my Father's Day card done since it is fast approaching. I already have half of his gift purchased so I'm right on track & won't have to stress out about what to get.  This year I actually have more ideas than I need!

Dad cards are not the easiest to make. At least for me. Dad is at that age where he doesn't practice his hobby of woodworking any more & has never golfed so it is hard to find an image that is the perfect fit.  I'm not sure this is it either, but I liked the idea of suggesting that he take it easy for his big day. He doesn't have a dog (lol) but we can pretend for artistic license can't we?  The image is a digi from Karen's Doodles & I colored it with pencils & gamsol . I added the leaves from a Sizzix die to try to tie in with the whole "tree" thing I had going.  I'm hoping he will like it.

Our flooding continues.  They are releasing more & more water from the dams north of us & the water is swallowing up more land & homes every day it continues.   The interstate is already closed in several spots & promises of more closures to come.  It is going to be a long & very stressful summer for thousands of people in our area, but that seems to be the case in many parts of the country right now.  I hope wherever you are, you are safe!

Tomorrow they are forecasting rain again. Cross your fingers & toes it will be light rain!
Catch you all later!  Have a great Sunday & try to stay dry if you can!

A Magnolia Birthday

Well, what do you suppose I have to share tonite?  Yup, another birthday card for work!  Stop laughing! Look at all the birthday cards you get to see! Tonite's card is made with a Magnolia stamp I have had for awhile & love. The paper is from K & Co. and I used a Spellbinder label die for the greeting. And once again, those wonderful wedding flowers I find at Michaels. Luckily, I had the foresight (or insanity) to buy a tub of them in green. I cut the petals to use as leaves & they are perfect. I colored her with copics.

We are still under flood warnings & will likely be for the entire summer now. They are releasing record amounts of water from the dams north of us every day & plan to continue the releases continually now until August according to the news last night.  Which means the flooding will get worse & the water will stay until cold weather comes. This has been a summer to test all of us & it has just begun!  How I wish we could send all of this dreadful water to Arizona or Texas where they are having fires. We don't need anymore here. And we are supposed to get more than an inch again tomorrow to add insult to injury!  Enough rambling.

Have a wonderful day tomorrow & I hope wherever you are you are safe & happy!

An apple a day....

Yup!  Another birthday card for work.  I have 7 more to go before the end of the month.  Looks like I had better get crackin' doesn't it?  Today's card is from Mo Manning.  I colored her with copics and added 2 apple buttons I found at Michaels.  The paper is from my stash, & unfortunately, I can't remember which company. (If you could see the paper I hoard, you would understand)  I added lace strips made with a Martha punch.

It was almost 100 here again today & horribly windy.  Not a good hair day! The river is continuing to rise at a rapid rate & still not expected to crest fully now until around the 18th.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week & wherever you are, you are cool and most of all DRY!

Catch you later!

Need help with that swing?

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you are all having a wonderful week. We are still waiting & watching the river to see how badly it will flood. You hear all kinds of contradictions & scary stories about the dams to the north, but guess we will just have to wait to see what really happens. The water is rising higher every day & some of our highways are already closed as well as businesses closest to the river. Prayers will be appreciated. Especially for the stability of the dams to our North.

Enough gloom. How about another birthday card today? Yes, you guessed it! Need another one for work! I think I still need about 6 more before the end of the month. This one is for a golfer & since he likes to give everyone a hard time, I couldn't resist this image from Karen's Doodles. I colored him in copics & the paper is from my stash. I ran some white cardstock thru the Big Shot & gave it the raised dots to resemble a real golf ball. I'm hoping he likes it!

Blogger was having issues, but hopefully this will post now.  Have a great week!

Thanks a melon!

I took a little time yesterday to work on another thank you card for my daughter's stash. This one is a Mo Manning image. (Who doesn't adore Mo?)  I thought the melon would provide a cute play on words for her card. I colored it with copics & pencils. The paper is from DCWV.  I've been so busy with cards for work, I haven't had time for my own. And added to that is the flood stress & everything else going on right now.

Anyone in our area is pretty much taking things a day at a time waiting to see how high the water rises each day. For those of you unfamiliar with Sioux City, we sit right on the Missouri River. There is a bridge connecting us to So. Sioux City, which is in Nebraska! That always causes a lot of confusion. Sioux City is in Iowa so how can So. Sioux City be in Nebraska! And a couple of miles from downtown you can cross another bridge & you are in So Dakota!  Because of all the heavy snowfall this winter & the heavier than normal rains this spring, the dams above us are at capacity & ready to overflow. Hence, the need to release record amounts of water which all runs downstream directly to us. The last time it flooded here was in 1952.
I got so busy rambling about the flooding, I almost forgot to post my card!  Have a safe & healthy week!

With Sympathy

A change of plans from the card I had planned for tonite.  I need another sympathy card for work.  Not having a lot of time tonite, I opted for a quick card that I hope will be ok.  Luckily, I had just seen a video that Becca of Amazing Grace posted on making frames from one of my Martha punches, so I grabbed that & this is what I came up with. The flowers are from the endless little buckets I got at Michaels in the bridal department. I love them!  They come in several colors & lay flat to mail.

We are supposed to have strong storms again tonite.  Just what we don't need.....more water!  We are all still watching the river to see how close it comes to work. There are hundreds, though, that are in direct line to lose their homes.  And they say the water will be on the ground until September! Hard to believe!!

Catch you later! Got to go take something to unplug my stuffy nose.  I liked the idea Mina gave me, but don't have the ingredients!  My fridge is full of Dr. Pepper, orange juice & milk.  Boring....

Have a great day!
