I have another Plum Purdy stamp to share tonite. I adore her work & wish she made more stamps. For those of you not familiar with the website, she specializes in patterns for Tole painters. For many years, that was my all consuming passion & selling my work helped raise extra money when my daughter was small. Bless her heart, she was a real trooper during those years of countless craft shows. I'm sure she could tell you some stories of the weekend shows where she sat doing her homework & helping me with the table.
I love this big old crow sitting on his pumpkin! I wanted something simple so didn't use my normal DP and went with embossing a strip down the front of the card instead. I skimmed a bit of orange ink over it to make it show better & some glitter to the leaves. I colored it with Prismacolor brush markers & the sentiment is an old one from Stampin Up. The border was made with a Martha Stewart punch.
One more day to this week & we can enjoy another weekend! Happy Friday, everyone!
I enjoyed my visit at the Plum Purdy site. Her images are really cute, and this was one of my favorites! Your coloring looks fabulous (always) and I love the embossed strip and punched border with the black edge. Your touch of color on the embossing really brings it out. Beautifully done, Sherri!

ReplyDeleteI have to say I adore this card perfect combination of background and the way you colored your image. I read what you wrote about tole painting - you won't believe this but I also did that for years and sold my work too at craft fairs. I will email you soon!! Hugs
Gorgeous colours and the textured card looks great with this image.
ReplyDeleteIt's been SO hot here, too, until last night -- Happy Friday to you, too! Love the bit of history you included -- I'm sure it's a very sweet memory for both of you.
ReplyDeleteSmiles! :)
Sherri! I love this card! Your coloring is fantastic and now I know your secret (you are a tole painter). I love tole pieces, and this would be so sweet done that way. You're going to get a kick out this one, Sherri. I have that same embossing strip on my desk right now. I'm thinking of using it with the September Release Mod Ornament Stamp set this week. Loved your card this evening.
ReplyDeleteOne of my most favorite stamps. I love the embossing and the black accent!
