QKR Stampede Challenge - Non-Traditional Colors

Hello, again!

It's getting closer & closer to that big day & I hope you are well ahead on your shopping & card making!  I'm a bit behind, but I guess that is to be expected with the move.  The good news is that I work well under pressure!  ha ha

The QKR Stampede challenge for today is to make a Christmas card using non-traditional colors.  I started by chosing this adorable Eureka digi # 3006 - Polar Bear Present and then pulling out the boxes of Christmas paper in my closet.  Yes....BOXES!  Christmas has always been my most favorite holiday and I cannot walk past a sale on Christmas paper without stopping.  And once I do, at least one 12 X 12 pad finds it's way into my cart!  I am so proud of myself though!  Since the move to Lincoln, I have not purchased a single sheet of paper of ANY kind, which is a record for me! I think the boxes & boxes of paper the movers unloaded was my "ah hah" moment and I realized just how much paper I had been hoarding.

Back to the challenge!  Here is my take on non-traditional.

I grabbed one of my Memory Box dies (Hanover Snowflake) and cut two of them & layered them for extra dimension.  I also went over the entire bear with Wink of Stella for some added sparkle, although it doesn't show up well here.

Head on over to the QKR Stampede blog and submit YOUR entry!  It's a great way to add to your card stash and be entered for a chance to win some adorable digi stamps at the same time!

Happy Crafting!
Sherri

  1. Oh, Sherri, I love your bear! I have a similar one from Whipper Snapper and he's one of the reasons I was thinking about going all retro for Christmas next year. So adorable! Such pretty, pretty paper, too, and your snowflake! Would you believe I only have one snowflake die set? For shame! So funny about your boxes and boxes of paper! Guess I'll be slowing down on my designer paper purchases since our local paper crafts store closed down. We still have Jo-Ann's, but their variety is limited. I'm sure I could find something... Happy holidays!

  3. I love what you did here and the colors are beautiful and the snowflake perfect touch. I think that bear is shaking that present too!! ;) And I am not even finished so I will be using other cards to help me out since I do not have any elves here to help with the cards - maybe next year I will be in better shape for this!!
