Thankful....

Hi,
Where did the week go?  One minute it was Monday & then Friday and now the weekend is almost over!  It was a busy week for cards at work, which didn't leave me much time to post.

I'm sharing 2 thank you cards I made yesterday with a new stamp/die set that Gail gave me. Don't you love getting gifts when it isn't even your birthday!  The stamps & die were from W Plus 9 and I love them! Be sure you visit her website to check out the adorable cards she is making!

This is the first one. I mounted it on a doily made with a Spellbinder die & mounted that on a Martha Stewart punched mat.  The heart & leaf were popped up with pop dots.

This is the 2nd card I made.  This one was done much the same, but using a Lifestyle doily oval & a different Martha Stewart corner punch.  The paper was from Recollections.

I'm off to clean my craft room.  A chore I started yesterday.  Well, I didn't actually start it.  I came upstairs with good intentions, but made the mistake of checking my email first & saw the sale at Sassy Cheryl's digi's and it all went downhill from there.  You know how it is once you start "browsing" a digi sale......lol

Have a great week.  I'll be back tomorrow with my first fall card.

It's Retirement Time!

No, not me!! DARN IT! One of the gals I have worked with forever is retiring this Friday. I had to make a couple of retirement cards to pass around to the office & plants this weekend. Here is what I came up with.

This first one was done with some beautiful paper from The Paper Studio, a simple stamp from Stampabilities & a flower from my stash.

The 2nd one was done with a Penny Black stamp, a Martha Stewart punch set & paper from Recollections.  I'm running out of retirement stamps that I haven't already used for work. lol

Hope your Monday was a good one.  I'm off to "play" with a couple of new dies that I ordered in a weak moment. Why do they have to make so many darned cute ones!  It's not fair!

Back again!

Hi,
I'm sorry I didn't get much posted last week.  The week started out badly & just went downhill from there.  Not only did one of our fellow co-workers lose his wife, but two of them!  And one of our gals from an upstairs plant lost her father.  So my week ended up just making sympathy cards.  I have a ton of stuff colored up, but nothing finished yet.  Hopefully, I can work on some of them tonight.

Right now, I have a belated birthday card.  One of our new employees had a birthday Friday & I didn't know it was his birthday until Friday afternoon.  Oops!  Better late than never, right?

This cute little critter is from Whipper Snapper. I colored him with Prismacolor markers & added a bit of glitter to the candle. The paper is from Creative Imaginations & the sentiment was computer generated. The matting was done with Spellbinder dies.

I will be back tomorrow with a couple of retirement cards I made this afternoon.  One of gals is retiring this week.

I hope you had a wonderful & relaxing weekend & are ready for a new week!  Catch you later!

Cupcake anyone?

Hi everyone!

I hope your week is going well.  I meant to post again last nite, but ended up working furiously on some sympathy cards instead.  One of my co-workers lost his wife suddenly over the weekend. She was only 56.  I made three cards to send to the different plants & to corporate so we could all sign one. Makes you want to hug the people you love  & tell them just how much you love them.  I try to do that anyway.  Our family has always been a bit on the "mushy" side when it comes to that.  And for that, I have always been so grateful!   We all know how much we love each other.

So here is the card for tonite.  I got a set of cupcake stamps that came with matching die cuts when Michael's had their last half off coupon. It was a Spellbinder/Hampton Art combination set. It cuts & embosses the stamped image.  Pretty slick!  Here is the first card I made with it.

I used a Marianne die for the background & the paper is from Recollections. I colored the cupcake stack with Prismacolor markers.  I think it turned out pretty cute for such a simple image.

Have a great Wednesday!  Catch you later!

Polly in the Flower Pot

Hi, all!
Well, this weekend just flew by, didn't it?  If only the work weeks would do the same.  lol  I hope yours was an enjoyable one.  I got caught up on some cards & even managed to rake one tub of leaves before I decided I had had enough.  Apparently, I'm more stiff & sore from the fall last week than I thought.  Why is it that kids can take horrific falls, get up & never even get a bruise?  ha ha  Does that mean we have to slow down as we get older?  Nah!!  Don't have time for that!

Today's card is a digi from Sassy Cheryl's.  I have to admit, I LOVE their digi's!  I thought this one would be a perfect birthday card for one of the gals at work.  Yes, I'm still working on cards for co-workers. I'm trying to work ahead so I can start on my Halloween cards.

I colored this little cutie with Prismacolor markers.  I added a button to the flower & a mini ladybug to the front. The yellow die behind her is a Spellbinder & the sentiment is from Stampin Up.  I popped it up with pop dots.  A touch of glitter to the sentiment package, the bows & pigtail ties & I was done. Hope she likes it as much as I do.  It made such a cheerful card!  The paper was from Recollections, by the way.

Off to relax a bit before bedtime.  Have a wonderful week!  I'm sure I will be checking in soon with more of the cards I did this weekend.  Catch you later!

Happy Fall

Hi,

From the looks of my front yard buried under piles of crunchy leaves, I think I can safely deduce that Fall has arrived.  So in keeping with the fall theme I decided to do a birthday card for someone very special using fall leaves.  I used a set of leaves from Spellbinders to cut them from some fall colored paper in my stash. The background paper was from my stash as well, but I think it was originally K & Co.

This is a bit different from my normal style, but I think he will like it. The leaves are embossed with veins & in person, the card is really a lot prettier than it photographs.

Have a wonderful Sunday!  I'll be back tomorrow with something new to share.

Lady in Red

Happy Friday, everyone!

We made it through another week & I don't know about you, but I am ready to relax! Translation: work on cards.  I don't know anything else that relaxes me like working on cards. I'm betting that a lot of you are nodding your heads right now & knowing exactly what I mean.

Tonite I have another birthday card for work. I'm calling her "Lady in Red" even thought she should probably be called "Girl in Red" instead.

I have always loved red, so I decided to go with it for this card. The cute digi is from Sassy Cheryl's. I colored her with Prismacolor markers & used a Spellbinder die to mat her. The flourish is from a Marianne Designs die.  The paper is from Recollections.

Have a wonderful (& relaxing) weekend!  I'll catch you later.

Let's relax!

Hi,

I hope all of you are having a good week.  As for me, I'm ready for the weekend! Today's card is another "guy" card for a co-worker's birthday.  I'd like my own private boat to relax on. (Only more on the luxury side than this one)  On second thought, maybe a shopping trip followed by a chair beside a nice lake would be more fun! lol

The image is from JustInkLined & was colored with Prismacolor markers. The paper if from Recollections & I added faux stitching with a micron pen.

Better get going.  I'll catch you all later!  Have a terrific Friday!

Lindsey's Wedding

Hi!

Another card for work, but this time it isn't a birthday card.  We have a gal getting married this Saturday so I got to do a fun wedding card for her.  A nice change of pace.

The image is from Lili of the Valley & was colored with Prismacolor markers. I used a Martha Stewart punch for the background & the flourishes were dies from Marianne Design. The butterflies were from Cheery Lynn dies. I added some pearls from my stash.  I hope she likes it.

Back tomorrow with something different.  Catch you later!

Not the week I expected!

Hi, all!

I know I had said on Sunday that I would be back tomorrow with another card, but yesterday didn't turn out quite the way I had planned.  I took a fall down one of the 2 flights of stairs we have to climb at work & wasn't in very good shape yesterday. You know you are having a bad day when you can't count all the places you hurt.  Thankfully, I don't think I broke anything but hurt all over yet. The last 2 wks haven't been very good ones.

Let's try for a cheerful card today.  I have another one that I made this weekend to use as a birthday card.
It is a Sassy Cheryl's digi I love. I colored her with Prismacolor markers & matted her with a Spellbinders die. The paper is from Recollections.

I hope you are all having a good week.  Watch those stairs!

Catch you later!

Catch Up Time!

Hi, everyone!

I hope you have all had a wonderful weekend.  We actually had some really beautiful weather this weekend. Cool nights & warm days.  We should probably be enjoying the warm weather.  I'm sure one of these days we will be cursing the snow & cold & wishing for warm weather again.

I've been trying to play catch up this weekend.  With Dad's party, I got behind in some of my card making. It was time to catch up a bit.  I am posting a flower card tonite.  I should make them more often than I do. I always enjoy them & they are always perfect for any occasion.

The flower stamp was from Flourishes.  They always have beautiful flowers. I colored it with Prismacolor markers & cut it out with Spellbinder Romantic Rectangles.  I also matted it with some beautiful paper from the Paper Studio.

I'll be back tomorrow with something new.  Catch you later!

Dad's 90th Surprise Party

Hi,

I hope you are all having a wonderful Labor Day weekend.  Instead of a card today, I thought I would post some photos of Dad's 90th Surprise Party.  We held the party in the basement at church but were having a hard time coming up with a way to get him there.  My daughter came up with the idea of getting an old, old car to drive him there since we were going with an old car theme for the party. Thanks to my BFF, Gail, who lined me up with someone who knew someone, who knew someone....I was able to make arrangements for a 1930 Model A. I told Dad that I was tired of buying him the same old thing every birthday so I was giving him a ride in an old car this year as part of his gift. We had arranged for the driver to ride around the area a bit, then drive him to the church parking lot where we would surprise him.  It worked!  He had absolutely no idea we were having a party!

This is a shot of him standing beside the car before they left on the ride. (Which he really enjoyed)

Here is a shot of him opening cards at his house when we returned from the party. As you can see, he really doesn't look 90 & thankfully, still gets around well.

So that is how I spent my Labor Day weekend!  I hope yours was as much fun!

Catch you later.
