For Peggy

Happy Saturday!

It has been a busy week even though it doesn't seem like I got much done.  This rain we have been having has certainly had me mowing the yard a lot!  Ugh!  I HATE mowing!  I almost think I would rather snow blow than mow!  You can always put on more clothes when it is cold but when it is almost 90 and HUMID, there isn't much you can do to keep cool.

Today's card is to honor a friend Peggy, also known as Jasonw1, on Splitcoast Stampers.  She is being honored this week for her amazingly gorgeous cards & generous spirit.  Today's card is very similar to one of hers, which you can see here:  http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/2522526?&si=jasonw1

This is my take on her card:

I wasn't happy with my ribbon, but it was all I had on hand at the time that would go with the blue of the paper.  I don't use a ton of ribbon anymore, so my stash needs some serious help.

Have a great weekend!

Special Delivery

Hello, everyone!

Can you believe May is over already?  Where did it go!!  I guess this is our last Friday challenge for QKR Stampede for the month isn't it?  Today's challenge #90 is Baby, Spring or Congratulations!  That's quite a choice for you, isn't it?  I decided to got with Baby the minute I saw digi #8811 Special Delivery.  This first card was the one I chose for the QKR blog.  I cut the mats from Lifestyle Nesting Doily Ovals.  The card background was also embossed for more texture.

Just to show you how versatile this stamp is, I also made the card in yellow, matting it with a Spellbinder Floral Oval, which gave it a whole new look!  I think you will find all of the digi stamps you get can be used in so many ways that they are a terrific bargain!
Which of the three catagories did you decide to go with?  I can't wait to see which one gets the most cards, so head over to the QKR Stampede Blog right now to join in all the fun & win yourself some free digi's!

Fast & Easy

Happy Wednesday!

Time for another Dies R Us inspiration.  Today's is a fast & easy card that can be changed to any number of things from a Happy Birthday, Get Well, Thinking of You to a Thank You, by just changing the sentiment.

Here is a close up of the cute flower!  This die is a must have and one of my new favorites!

The dies I used today are Spellbinders A2 Filigree, Spellbinders Blooms One & Cheery Lynn Mini Fanciful Flourish.  I hope this has given you some ideas of your own!

Catch you later!

Challenge#89 Clean & Simple

Hi, all!

Yes, Friday finally came!  I bet you were all counting the minutes until it did, weren't you?  With a long weekend ahead, you have plenty of time to make a card for QKR Stampede's challenge #89- Clean & Simple now!

Boy, did I struggle with this one!  Clean & simple is not easy for me.   I started with a beautiful digi # 17505 Rose and tried to make that my focal point.

I used a Cheery Lynn French Lattice (small) as a backdrop, but otherwise, I didn't add anything else. Hopefully, this will qualify as "clean & simple" for our challenge.

Okay, everyone, put your thinking caps on & see what you can come up with!

Have a great weekend!

Power Poppy Time

Happy Thursday!

I have a flower card to share today.  I don't do as many of them as I should & when I saw this digi from Power Poppy I just had to get it & color it up.  If you aren't familiar with the Power Poppy stamps & blog, you really need to check it out.  I love not just their upbeat attitude toward life, but their beautiful stamps!

Having said that, here is the card I am entering in their first ever blog challenge, Pop Goes The World.  I don't enter a lot of challenges, but this one just called to me.  I wanted ALL of the flowers, but have to pace myself now that I'm retired!  You will see what I mean once you check them out!

Their digi stamps also come with a beautiful sentiment.  I used that for my inside.
I hope this has inspired you to check out the beautiful stamps & sentiments at Power Poppy!

Catch you again tomorrow with another QKR Stampede challenge!

Spring Is In The Air

Happy Hump Day, everyone!

You made it halfway through the week already!  I'm sure you are as happy about that as you are to see that Spring has finally arrived!  I don't remember a winter that was ever this long before and we didn't even have much snow!

To celebrate Spring, I'm sharing a favorite digi of mine from Sassy Cheryls.  I colored her with my usual Prismacolor brush markers and cut her out with a Spellbinder Adorning Square die. Magnolia Doohickey Cute Corner dies for each corner and a flower made with Spellbinders Blooms One &  Memory Box Tiny Tendril finish it out.

I wanted something bright & cheerful, but I don't think I realized just how "bright & cheerful" this color combination was until I posted it!  ha ha  If you were sleepy when you opened this post, you are awake now!

Be sure to check out the Dies R Us Inspiration Blog for daily ideas!  And don't forget to join the Dies R Us Challenge Blog for a chance to win gift certificates toward dies!  They are adding new ones every week!

Catch you again later!

And many "mower"

Happy Tuesday!

Since I posted a silly card yesterday, I thought I would continue in the lighter mood with a birthday card today.  The neighbor who mows my dad's yard is having a birthday soon.  I know this because he has mentioned it to me.....several times, in fact!  ha ha  He is a sweet man & a Godsend to Dad.  I thought the lawn mower from Stampin Up  would make the perfect choice.

One of the things I love about this set is the inside sentiment!

I'm hoping this will give him a chuckle.  I'm sure some birthday cake will help too!

Back tomorrow with something new.  Have a great day!

Not a morning person!!

Happy Monday!

I hope your week is off to a great start!  We got some much needed rain last night, but the rain they were expecting to follow today has not materialized.  So to give us all some much needed cheer, I decided to make a "silly" card today.   I found this digi from Dearie Dolls that just made me smile. I decided to pair it with a computer generated sentiment based on the coffee pot.  Don't a lot of us look pretty much like this when we get up in the morning?  Especially before that first cup of coffee or tea?

Like the sentiment, I'm not a morning person.  While not crabby, I'm just a little slow to get going. lol
Perhaps because I've stayed up too late the night before reading! If you have a Kindle, you will understand.

Enjoy your week!

Challenge #88 Punch and/or dies

Hi & Happy Friday!

Where did the week go?  I think time goes by faster every week!  It's time for another Friday challenge at QKR Stampede and this week the challenge #88 is Punch and/or Dies.  We all have punches & dies we can pull out & I can't wait to see what you come up with!  I decided to go with digi # 11401 Picking Flowers for my card.

Isn't she a sweetie?  I decided to go with red & yellow for my main colors as they are always so bright & cheerful.  I cut her out with a Marianne Design Oval and added an edge using my Spellbinder Scalloped Border Two.

Ok, everyone!  Head on over to the QKR Stampede Blog & post an entry of your own!  What's more fun than playing along for the chance to win some free digi's!

Dies R Us Challenge Blog!

Hi, everyone!

As many of you are aware, Dies R Us now has TWO blogs:  the original "Inspiration" blog and a new "Challenge" blog!  The challenges will run for 2 wks.  Team A will have a challenge beginning on the first of each month and running until the 14th.  Team B (the one I am on) will start their challenge on the 15th of each month & run until the end.  Be sure to check it out for a chance to win some wonderful prizes! The only rule is you need to follow the challenge theme and use at least ONE die that is carried in the Dies R Us store! How easy is that!!

This is my first posting for Team B's challenge which is "May Flowers" and I couldn't wait to get started!

I added some embossed lines to the front of my "house" to make the windows & shutters look more realistic.  I used the following dies for this card:  Poppy Stamps Grand Madison Window, Poppy Stamps Grand Madison Window Shutter, Poppy Stamps Grand Flower Box, Impression Obsession Spiral Flowers, Impression Obsession Spiral Daisy, Impression Obsession Cat Die Set, and Impression Obsession Fir Sprigs.  The butterflies were cut with Martha Stewart punches.

I hope this has you wanting to think about flowers!!

Making Decorative Frames

Happy Hump Day!

Not only is the week half over, but so is the month!  Time flies doesn't it?  Today I'm sharing a card I have posted on the Dies R Us Inspiration Blog.  If you would like instructions as to how it is made, I have posted them all there.

Here is the card I am sharing today.  It's made with one of A Day For Daisies beautiful digi stamps.  This one was actually one of their freebies!  Hard to imagine anything this beautiful being a freebie!!

Side view so you can see how beautiful the frame is.

Before I leave you today, I want to be sure to mention that there is another Dies R Us Challenge beginning tomorrow.  Be sure to check it out!  Lots of fun & prizes for the winner.

Smile!

Hi, everyone!

I have had this sentiment for some time as part of a set and thought it would be fun to use it on the card I made today.  The gloomy, rainy skies we have had for the past few days make it easy to feel gloomy too. I think this little gal had the right idea!

This isn't a color I use a lot, but decided to go for something wild for a change.

I'd make this a longer post, but have to watch Dancing With The Stars!  I don't watch it often, but am such a fan of Maksim and this season he has found a perfect partner. I'm hoping he will finally win the grand prize this time!

Catch you later.

Anything Goes/Twist: Gems/Rhinestones

Hi, everyone!

Friday again & time for another challenge at QKR Stampede! Today's challenge # 87 is Anything Goes/Twist: Gems/Rhinestones & I can't wait to see what you have come up with!  I decided to go with digi # 15612 Dancing Cow!  Yes, that's right!  A dancing cow!  And this one has dressed up for her dance as if she was going to compete on Dancing With The Stars!  Check out the red glitter tutu and the red gem earrings & bracelet!  She came to PARTY!!

I used a Spellbinder Floral oval to cut her out & added some corner interest with an old corner punch.

Hop on over to the QKR Stampede blog right now & add your entry & see if you can win some free digi stamps!

Flowers & lace

Hi, everyone!

Hump Day again, so, of course, that means it's time for another Dies R Us Inspiration card.  Today, I'm posting an easy card.  After fighting a darned "bug" for almost 2 weeks, now, my "mojo" is in hiding along with my energy.   Since I'm scheduling this post ahead of time, I'm hoping by the time you read this, I will be back to my old self!   Here is my card for today's Dies R Us post.

I used a Memory Box Cheshire Branch background and Memory Box Cheshire Branch Outline for the flower and the lace is a Cheery Lynn Border Carnivale die.  The paper was from Pebbles.

Be sure you head on over to the Dies R Us Challenge blog from here to enter their first ever challenge!  It began May 1st and runs until the 13th.  You can win a great prize, so join in the fun!

Enjoy the rest of the week & I'll catch you later!

Country Gingham

Hi, all!

I thought I would celebrate finally feeling better with a little bit of country gingham today!  Although I have been posting for the past 2 wks, they were all scheduled ahead of time.  Today is the first day I've felt human enough to actually make a card!  YEAA!!  If any of you get one of those nasty bugs going around, be sure you get right to the doctor!

This card was done with a Flourishes stamp that I love.  I actually started out with something else in mind, but as happens so often, got sidetracked and ended up with a totally different version!

I tried to do these peonies in the same shade of pink I have in the front yard.  After that, gingham just seemed to be the only way to go!

Have a great weekend!!

Happy Mother's Day!

Hi, everyone!

Mother's Day is just around the corner, so the QKR Stampede challenge for today is Challenge #86-Mother's Day! This was always one of the cards I spent a lot of time making, to be sure it was just right! I wanted it to be as special as my Mom, and no matter what the card looked like, she always raved on & on about it like it was a Piccaso.  I miss her so much! Today's card is to honor her, even though she is gone now.  And I know she is looking at it & telling everyone in Heaven that her daughter MADE that beautiful card!  So ladies, whether or not you are lucky enough to still have your Mom's or not, make her a beautiful card!

I wanted flowers for my card & chose #3601 Roses.  I mounted them with Spellbinder Floral Oval & Radiant Rectangles.  The background was embossing with a swiss dot embossing folder.

Head on over the QKR Stampede's challenge blog right now to join in the celebration!
