QKR Stampede Challenge # 202 - Down on the Farm

Hello, again!

I think this is the first time I have done a farm themed card, but today's QKR Stampede challenge is "Down on the Farm" so I checked out all the adorable images available and came up with this sad looking goat.  This is image # 202 - Old Goat (what else would you call him!) ha ha

Head on over to the QKR Stampede blog & join in!  You could win some great digi stamps!

Boo!

Hi, everyone!

Are you ready for a change of scene?  I'm sure you are tired of flowers at this point!  ha ha  I decided I needed a change of pace myself, so what better change than a Halloween card!  This is one of Sassy Cheryl's newest digi images and I had to grab it the minute I saw it.  I knew she would be a perfect Halloween image & knew I had just the spider web die to go with her.  I do LOVE Halloween!  There is something about all the cute "scary" images that always makes me smile.  Probably thinking back to the days when I was young & all the crazy costumes we went out in....and all the huge PAPER sacks we filled to the top with candy, cookies, bars, popcorn balls.....all the things you can't pass out (or let your kids accept) now.  Remember how hot the rubber masks were & how you couldn't see out of the eye holes?  Oh, I'm really dating myself today!  ha ha   I still remember one year when we went with the girls across the street and one of them was dressed as a devil, complete with long red tail.  Her tail kept falling off & we had to stop every house or so to pin it back on to her red pants.  I wonder if any of you have similar memories?

This card was so much fun, I may have to sort through the Halloween baskets to see what other cute stamps I can come up with!

Stay tuned tomorrow for our weekly QKR Stampede challenge!

The beat goes on!

Happy Hump Day!

Well, the beat goes on.....I'm still having fun with the many vellum flowers I made the other day.  Here are my two latest creations.

I got a little creative with the blue flower & curled the petals a bit more.

I left these petals flat for mailing.  Both versions are pretty, so you could use whatever works best for you!

Your week is half over!  Hope it has been a fantastic one so far & your weather has been as beautiful as ours.

My New Addiction!

Hi, friends!

I'm sure you were wondering where I've been the past couple of days after so many days of posting each day.  Well, I was trying to work ahead on my posts for QKR Stampede during part of that time, and the rest of it was spent trying something new!  Flowers made with vellum....my new passion! They are extremely time consuming, but worth every minute.

Here are my first 2 cards.

The lavender is actually a very soft lavender in real life, but I'm still playing with the photo effects on my new computer.  At least you get the idea.....

I loved the pink as a birthday card.  Guess I should have taken it from a different angle.  Partially opened, it looks like the top left corner isn't perfect, but you are looking at the reflection from the back side of the card. I definitely need photography lessons from my genius grandson!  ha ha

I'm going to play again this afternoon & see what other fun things I can add some flowers to!  Hopefully, I will be back tomorrow!

Enjoy your week!

Patchwork Elephant!

Happy Saturday!

Hope you are enjoying your weekend!  It looks like much of the country has been having the same horribly hot & humid weather we have been having for the past week.  It certainly makes you thankful for air conditioning, doesn't it?

Today I have a darling baby card to share.  It was made with Impression Obsession Patchwork Elephant and Marianne Designs Anja's Oval Die.   I LOVE this little elephant!

I also used some of my old punches for the corners!  Way back in the "old" days, before dies came along corner punches were a big thing for awhile.  I should know, as I think I bought most of them.  At that time, the only way to add interest to a card was a corner punch. Dies had not really come into the picture then.  Isn't it funny how things come and go in the crafting world?

Enjoy your weekend!

Happy Hump Day!

I know we all love those quick & easy cards, especially when we need something at the last minute!
When this Die-Versions Spring Pond die was on sale, I just had to grab it!  I knew it would be a great card for so many different occasions from sympathy to get well, to thinking of you, to Happy Birthday!

With a change of color you can end up with a lot of really beautiful versions!

Dear One...

Hello, friends!

Today I have another beautiful image from Power Poppy to share.  I thought it would be a good card in remembrance of my Mom's birthday.  She loved flowers & would have loved this card. It will be 5 years in October, and I still miss her.

I hope it is cooler where you are this week!  We are supposed to be near 100 degrees by the end of the week with humidity in the high 70's.  I don't think I will be venturing out unless I have to! ha ha
Sounds like a good week to color!

Back tomorrow with some quick & simple cards!

You can't beat chocolate!

Happy Monday!

I hope you had a relaxing weekend and are ready to begin your week.  Looks like it will be a hot one here!  July weather is finally back again after a few rainy days.  This might be my last Christmas card for a few days.  I just got a darling summery image to play with!  Lol!

I've shared this image from Sassy Cheryl before, but couldn't resist coloring him up again and trying a different die with him.  This time I used a Marianne Design Anja's Oval Die to frame him & I love this die!  It has always been one of my favorites.  (Yes, I know.....they are ALL my favorites!) ha ha
See for yourself!

What do you think?  Are you in love with that die too?  I've had it for years  & used it over & over again.  I just can't pass by anything lacy & this one is too gorgeous to even try.

"On a Roll!"

Hi, again!

I don't know if it is because it is so beastly hot outside or I just like doing Christmas cards, but it could be that I am just in love with the new snowmen that Sassy Cheryl has been releasing!  This is her newest & I laughed the minute I saw it!  Boy, are these guys having fun rolling up one of their friends in that big snowball!  How cute is this image!!

I framed it with a Spellbinders Enchanted Labels 28.   And the sentiment stamp I had in my stash seemed perfect to go with their merry little outing!

Back again tomorrow with another Christmas card!

Happy Birthday!

Hello, again!

I hope your weekend is off to a fantastic start & you are doing whatever it is that makes you REALLY happy!  For me, that would be creating cards, of course.  That is my "happy place" & has been for several years.

Today's card is another done with a digi from Power Poppy.  I can't seem to stop coloring her beautiful flowers!  I teamed this one with a border from Penny Black called Border Edges & one of my favorite dies from Memory Box..Stitched Scalloped Circles.

After cutting this beautiful border in white for the front of my card, I also cut it in the gorgeous teal paper for the inside!  I made sure it was wide enough to show through my white border when the card was closed.

The roses color up VERY quickly and it makes a sweet card for your next birthday need.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Hello, again!

Ready for a nice relaxing weekend?  If you are lucky enough to be near water, you may enjoy the theme for this week's QKR Stampede challenge which is "By the Seaside".....

I found a lot of darling images that would have been perfect for today's challenge theme, but there was something about this happy little frog (with his favorite beverage) that just appealed to me.  This is digi # 24149 - Pool Party.

Have you ever seen anyone looking more relaxed than this?  He even brought his favorite little sailboats along!

Head on over to the QKR Stampede challenge to join all the fun!  I can't think of a better way to spend an afternoon & you stand a great chance to win some fun digi stamps too!

Enjoy your weekend!

Dies R Us Challenge - Water/Beach

Hello again!

As sometimes happens when the 15th of the month falls on a Friday, there will be 2 separate posts today so be sure you scroll down for the 2nd.  It's time for the Dies R Us challenge and the theme this time is "Water/Beach" which I thought would be really simple since I have so many of their beach themed dies.  Turns out I may have TOO many!  ha ha  I kept pulling out this one & that one (my favorites, you know) and ended up making 2 cards prior to this one & neither of them were what I really wanted so I set those aside & went for version number three!  Finally, one I liked enough to post.  Lol!

I used the following dies for this card:

Spellbinders Ribbon Banner Labels

There are literally dozens of beach themed dies if you head to the store!  And beach themed cards are a great card choice for the men in your life!  Everyone loves the beach!

Be sure you check out the daily inspiration blog here as well!  Lots of talented gals sharing some fantastic cards with you each day.

Grab your dies & see what YOU can come up with!  If you are the lucky winner, you get a gift voucher to the amazing store!

Oh, I do love a sale!

Hi, again!

Boy, I can't think of anything that gets me more excited than a good sale!  And for those of you who follow Dies R Us, they have outgrown their current location & are moving.  And, rather than take along all their stock, they have been having some fantastic sales! This Die-Namites Butterfly Frame was 75% off and just too tempting to pass up!  I've already made several cards with it so I decided to share a few.

I knew this die would be perfect for sympathy cards! Nothing too extreme, and easy to put together for a little stash to have on hand.   I also carried that same die to the inside to frame the sentiment there as well.

These could easily be made up as bundles in different colors for sale at a craft fair too.

Catch you tomorrow with TWO posts!  Fridays are always QKR Stampede's weekly challenge and since this Friday happens to fall on the 15th of the month, it is also my Dies R Us challenge blog post as well!  Be sure you catch both posts & enter for your chance to win some wonderful prizes!

Nothing better than hot chocolate!

Happy Hump Day!

For everyone sweating & cursing the heat & humidity, I have a treat today!  How about pretending it is cold & snowy & a cup of hot chocolate is perfect to help warm your frozen insides?  These little cuties from Sassy Cheryl just made me smile!  I have a particular fondness for ALL of her snowmen! This one was no exception! I hope he doesn't melt the end of his little carrot nose on the hot chocolate!

For the outside frame, I grabbed a Memory Box Dancing snowflake Frame and for the inside, I grabbed a Memory Box Frostyville Corner die for both cards.

For this one I did the inside with the Frostyville Corner cut from the green snowflake paper!

Are you ready for winter yet?  ME NEITHER!!!! ha ha  But is it still fun to do winter cards in the summer!

See you again tomorrow!

Thanksgiving leaves

Hello, friends!

I know you probably aren't thinking of fall quite yet when it is so beastly hot & humid outside, but I had to try out a new Tutti die called Maple Vine Frame.  I decided to pull out an old image from Sassy Cheryl for the center & love the result.  The leaves just frame him perfectly!

I mounted him on a black card which really makes him pop and acts almost like another frame.

Since we are already in the fall mood, I'm going to really turn the clock ahead & post a couple of Christmas cards tomorrow!

Catch you later!

Thanks for the Sunshine!

Hi, again!

Another Monday and another busy week.   I have a cousin flying in today to finish the final preparations for driving her dad back to Virginia where she lives.  It will be strange not having him here, but I know he will be happier to be out there with his daughter & grandchildren.  I guess change is part of growing older isn't it?

Today is the last of the Power Poppy cards I had colored up the other day.  This one is a thank you card.  I love yellow...and gingham, so this was a favorite when I finished it.

I love bright, cheerful cards!  Getting one in the mail is always a great pick-me-up!

Enjoy your week, everyone!  Catch you later!

Tulips

Happy Sunday!

Hope your weekend is going well & the sun is shining wherever you are!  That always makes a world of difference, doesn't it?

As promised, I am back today with a couple of tulip cards.  Again, they are from Power Poppy.

I've always loved tulips!  They were also one of my dad's favorite flowers.  He wasn't much of a flower person, but did like tulips.  Where I live in Iowa, we actually have a yearly tulip festival in Orange City, Iowa (usually in May or June) and the whole town dresses in their Dutch costumes and wooden shoes.  It lasts a whole weekend with parades, shows, Dutch food, the works!  And of course, the whole town has tulips blooming everywhere! It's kind of the unofficial start to spring & summer!

I'll be back tomorrow with my final flower card.  For now, anyway!

What a difference paper makes!

Hello, friends!

As I mentioned, I have been thoroughly enjoying coloring up a lot of flower cards the past few days.  I had forgotten how versatile they are and how even the same image colored up with different colors or with different background papers can change the whole look & feel of a card! I began with one of my favorite Power Poppy digi images and printed several sheets of it.  After coloring the image in several colors, I started going thru my paper stash for the perfect papers!  That was almost as much fun as the actual coloring!  (I have LOTS of paper!) ha ha Lets see if you agree with my paper choices on each of these!

This first card is one I am sending to my daughter, Melissa.  She has been working long hours & I thought she could use a little pick me up!

This one I fell in love with this paper the minute I saw it.  I actually bought the paper pad for this sheet!  ha ha  Actually, since it was on sale half off, I have to confess I bought 2 pads. The paper on the card above and on the last card came from these packs too so I think I got my $6 worth!

This just called for a simple pink stripe.  Nothing fussy!

I wish this had photographed better.  The grid lines are actually a bit more teal, like the roses.

From roses, I went on to tulips and then to a sunflower!  When you are on a roll, you are on a roll!

Back tomorrow with tulips!

QKR Stampede Challenge # 199 - Transportation

Happy Friday!

As you can tell from the theme for this week's QKR Stampede challenge, "Transportation" you are in for a "guy" card!  Lol  Not many gals want a car or a truck on their birthday card!  I know I certainly don't!  So having said that, here is the card I came up with using Digi # 20205 - Old Car.  I really, really love this image!  My dad could have told you the exact model & year, I'm sure.  Old cars were something he loved.  I do have to agree that they have a certain charm that the new ones lack!  But I wouldn't trade the "charm" for the air conditioning & Iphone capabilities of the new ones!

A Happy Birthday banner, a few gears & some map paper and you are done!  Put your thinking cap on & see what you can come up with!  Winner will get their choice of some darling digi stamps!

See you later!

Playtime again..

Hi, gals!

It's play time again!  I got a new Tutti die that just spoke to me.  Autumn Wheelbarrow is the die name & I played around with a couple of cards to get started.

The first is a Thanksgiving card. And the last two are thank you cards.  You can never have enough thank you cards on hand!

On these thank you notes, I cut the die & then laid it back into the outline.  I may have to try some shaker cards for these too!

I'll be back tomorrow with the weekly QKR Stampede challenge and then on Saturday, I will begin with some more flower cards.  For some reason, I have really been in the flower mood lately.  Maybe it is the gorgeous flower digi images that Power Poppy has been creating.  Whatever it is, I seem to be coloring a whole lot of flowers lately!

Catch you tomorrow!

Christmas in July

Happy Hump Day!

I'm always late getting started on my Christmas cards!  Every year I promise myself I will start them earlier so I am not scrambling at the end and I never do.  This year, a new release by Tutti dies was just too cute to pass up so I had to see what I could come up with!  This die is Scrolly Deer Edge.

If you have a ton of Christmas cards to make, this die is sure to save you a lot of time! I grabbed some snowflake paper & cut out the beautiful deer, then grabbed a snowflake die from my stash & added it to the center of the top snowflake on my card.  A little Glossy Accent & some Glamour Dust for sparkle & it was done!

Back with some new dies next time!

Roses are Red....

Hello, everyone!

Back to work after a beautiful, long weekend!  At least you are one day closer to the end of the week!

I'm still on a flower kick & still sharing Power Poppy digi images.   If you are not a fan of digi images, she also has all these & many more in clear acrylic stamps as well.

I've had a lot of fun coloring up these flower images & actually colored up another seven this afternoon!   So I'm sure you will be seeing more flowers sometime soon.   Tomorrow, however, I'm going to share my first Christmas card.

Catch you tomorrow!

Studies in Blue..

Happy Fourth of July!

I hope the weather is wonderful wherever you are & you are able to get out & enjoy the long weekend with friends & family!  I should be sharing a patriotic card today, but at least they have white & blue.

These cards were both done with Power Poppy digi images. I bought several the other day, but this was hands down my favorite image.  My daughter has been after me to do more flower cards so here we go!

This first card was cut with a  Sue Wilson Noble Collection - Ornate Pierced Design die.

This card was done with a Sue Wilson Noble Collection - Ornate Pierced Squares die.
In real life, the blue is a much softer & more muted color...more of a periwinkle than this. The next time I see my grandson, he will have to give me some pointers!

Enjoy your Fourth!  Stay safe out there!

Yellow Roses

Hi, friends!

Hopefully, you are enjoying your long weekend & have not yet fired off all your fireworks ahead of the big day!  I know how hard it is for kids to wait until the 4th!  In my neighborhood they have been shooting off fireworks for several days already....either that or bombs!  Some of them rattle the windows they are so loud!

Today I am sharing a birthday card made with beautiful roses from Power Poppy.  Nobody does flowers quite as beautifully as she does!

Wow, I guess my white background just blended into my white card!  Lol  You will have to look closely to see that this is actually mounted on a white card.  My goal is to one day be able to take a really good photograph but that is a work in progress.

I'll be back tomorrow with more Power Poppy images.

Two for the price of one!

Hello, again!

I'm back with a couple of wedding cards.  I had my name on the backorder list for the Sue Wilson Mr. & Mrs. die for ages & it finally came in. YEAAAA!!!   I knew there would be a lot of ways I could use it & I've already made 2 cards with it.  Wedding cards are always fun & I like to make them with really lacy "fancy" dies.  A special event like a wedding just needs a nicer card.

The pink card was made with Sue Wilson Noble Collection- Ornate Pierced Squares.  What a gorgeous set of dies!

The white card was made with Sue Wilson Noble Collection-Ornate Pierced Design dies and the addition of some pearl flourishes.  For some reason, the pearls look more cream or yellow, but in reality, they are pure white.  With so many black & white weddings, I thought this would be a fun choice.

Enjoy your long weekend, everyone!  Be careful with the fireworks!!
