Brrrrr!!!

Brrr!  One word says it all better than anything else I could say!  We are now up to a balmy 6 below zero and the wind is blowing.  I'm not sure what the actual wind chill is, as my weather alert only shows the actual temperature.  When I was reading last night it was already around 38 below wind chill and that was around 9. Our weather alert goes until Tuesday, so  I guess we just hunker down.  I can tell you, even with a new furnace, it feels cold in the house.  I can't imagine having to go outside in this and work outside today!

I got some new dies & stamps for Xmas and one of the stamps is a darling snowman from Stamping Bella called Frostier.  It came too late for Xmas, of course, but it was so cute I had to stamp it up. I tried thinking outside the box this time. I wanted to send a get well card to my son-in-law.  Even though I have more get well stamps than the average person, he has had so many surgeries over the years that by now I've used all of them on cards for him.  So I decided to make this one into a get well card.  There is something so sweet about the snowman bending over to hold the little bird that it reminded me of a gesture of love.

I colored it with my Prismacolor brush markers and paper pieced the scarf with the background paper. The snowflakes are from a new die by Simon Says Stamp (Eliza Snowflake) that is now my favorite snowflake!
The sentiment is from an old Stampin Up set.

Time to get busy!  Stay warm!!

  1. That is so sweet, Sherri! It's a very tender and caring scene and I think it's absolutely perfect for a get well card. I love the way you did the snowflake in black and white, and your paper piecing is completely seamless. It sure is fun to get crafty stuff for Christmas, isn't it? Sounds like good weather to spend your evenings wrapped in a blankie with your Kindle in your lap. I miss our winter storms. We've had very mild weather this year and it kind of takes the fun out of winter.

I ditto what Leslie said! Love what you did - so clever and picture perfect. Hope you are keeping warm!! My daughter is in Minnesota with a -45!! Just can't wrap my head around that but I would be wrapping a scarf or two around my head!!!! Stay warm, my friend - hugs

Me again. Just saw those adorable valentine cards you made - just too sweet and I love all the Penny Black images - I have quite a few of them and I have not still used them. But you are inspiring me for sure! ;)

  4. This is adorable. I love this little snowman. They are my favorite and I am always wishing I had used mine more during the winter. Hey maybe I can start a new trend and just use them all year..hehe. Hope you are warmed up. Great card and wonderful Christmas gifts.

  5. I just love the snowflake done in black and white! What an original idea. Hope it's warming up a bit there. I can honestly say I don't miss living in the northeast at all, especially at this time of year. Keep bundled up!
